Improving Patient Care Communication /Admission and Discharge Auto-Notification Implemented
On January 21, 2010 we implemented the automated “Admission Notification” letter. On February 15, 2010 we added the automated “Discharge Notification”. In addition to these notifications, you should receive your dictated H&P’s, discharge summaries, consultations, operative reports and lab/x-rays by auto-fax or online through Meditech. Should you need additional documentation, please call the HIM department at 303-695-2952, Option 2. We will be happy to expedite your request.
Electronic Health Record Update
M-Print was implemented on September 21, 2009. M-Print is a component of the E.H.R. that provides retention of our computer generated documentation (which allows us to save a few trees). This process has several stages. The first stage took place in September and allowed us to stop printing nurses’ notes at discharge. The notes are available indefinitely by accessing Meditech. Next in line is the OR module, slated for roll-out second quarter 2010. I’ll keep you informed as dates and information is provided.
Stay Away From Cell Phone Dictation
Please stay clear of using your cell phone for dictation. It is not a reliable medium for dictation (sound fades in and out requiring you to dictate the report again).
Amendments to Signed Dictated Reports
As we move closer to the implementation of E.H.R., the corrections you make to online reports need to be done electronically. As a friendly reminder: if you have already signed your dictated report, the addendum, must be dictated, thus available electronically to all caregivers.
If you need any Health Information assistance, I can be reached at 303-695-2752. Thank you!
