Hyperbaric Medicine

Hyperbaric medicine, also known as hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), involves breathing oxygen inside of a pressurized chamber. Under these conditions, the lungs can collect more oxygen than would be possible breathing pure oxygen at normal air pressure. This oxygen is then carried throughout the body to promote healing. Conditions that are treated using hyperbaric oxygen therapy include the following:

  • Gas Gangrene
  • Crush injuries/ compartment syndrome
  • Necrotizing fasciitis
  • Osteomyelitis
  • Diabetic foot ulcers
  • Radiation injuries
  • Skin grafts
  • Thermal burns
