Exercise

Regular, moderate exercise improves health. In fact, the American Cancer Society recommends regular, moderate exercise as a means of improving health for cancer patients. While rest also is recommended to those recovering from a disease or illness, too much rest can decrease strength, muscle mass and flexibility. It also can have a negative impact on your emotions.

Benefits of Exercise

  • Decrease dependence on others for normal activities
  • Increase blood flow
  • Increase self-esteem
  • Reduce anxiety and depression
  • Decrease nausea and symptoms of fatigue

Exercise programs should take into account your current comfort levels and progress, as well as any other treatments you are undergoing.
