Saving Lives by Saving Time

When it comes to treating a heart attack, every minute counts. in 2001, we developed the Cardiac AlertSM program in patnership with our physicians, the Colorado Heart Institute, and the local EMS community. This program allows heart attack patients to receive the treatment they need faster.

The Medical Center of Aurora has one of the best records in the United States for getting our patients lifesaving procedures quickly. The national standard set by the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association is 90 minutes, beginning when the patient enters the emergency room. At TMCA, we consistently beat the 90 minute standard treatment time. In fact, in 2009, our average treatment time was 64 minutes.

Two Accredited Chest Pain Centers

In late 2008 both our Main Campus and our south metro Denver facility, Centennial Medical Plaza, became accredited chest pain centers by the Society of Chest Pain Centers.

Magnet Recognition - Nursing's Highest National Honor

One of our greatest honors to date is receiving Magnet Recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center in 2008. This is the highest national honor for nursing excellence, and we are the first community hospital in Denver to receive it.

State-of-the-Art Heart Care Tower

In June 2009, we opened our new 84-bed, all-private-room heart care tower on the Main Campus so that we can continue to offer the highest level of care to our patients.
