Total Hip Replacement

For patients considering hip replacement, The Medical Center of Aurora/Centennial Medical Plaza offers two cutting-edge, minimally invasive techniques with proven outcomes. You will work with your doctor to determine which procedure is best for you.

Two-Incision Total Hip Replacement

Using the Zimmer Minimally Invasive Solutions (MIS) two-incision hip replacement technique, specially trained orthopedic surgeons are able to replace the hip without cutting tendons and muscles to replace the joint. Incisions are drastically smaller (1 ½ to 2 inches each vs. 10 to 12 inch incision with traditional surgery), and the recovery time is much faster. Additional benefits include less blood loss during surgery and less pain during recovery.

One-Incision (or Single-Incision) Total Anterior Hip Replacement

The Medical Center of Aurora/Centennial Medical Plaza is one of only a few hospitals across the nation to offer one-incision total anterior hip replacement. Unlike traditional hip replacement surgery, surgeons approach the joint from the front (anterior) of the hip. They are able to perform the procedure without detaching the muscle from the pelvis or femur.

As a result, patients are allowed to bend their hips immediately following surgery. Plus, patients experience a smaller incision, less scaring, faster recovery, shorter hospital stay, less pain following surgery and less blood loss.

Surgeons use the state-of-the-art ProFX orthopedic operating table to perform the one-incision anterior hip replacement. The table rotates the leg during surgery and allows the surgeon to easily check for accuracy in leg length and for stability of the hip.
