HealthONE® Names New CEO for The Medical Center of Aurora

Aurora, CO, June 22, 2012 – HCA-HealthONE® LLC today announces the appointment of Richard Hammett as Chief Executive Officer of The Medical Center of Aurora and Centennial Medical Plaza. Hammett, currently Chief Operating Officer of St. David’s Medical Center in Austin, TX, will begin his new role on August 1.

Hammett replaces John Hill, who left the state in May to join PeaceHealth in Oregon.

Prior to becoming Chief Operating Officer at St. David’s in 2007, Hammett served as the Senior Vice President for Strategic Planning and Development at HCA’s Central and West Texas Division in Austin, which operates eight acute care hospitals, including six in the St. David’s HealthCare system. Before that, he served 10 years with Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee in a variety of roles, including Administrator and Vice President for Care Operations for the large, 347-bed flagship hospital.

The Medical Center of Aurora is a three-campus hospital that includes Centennial Medical Plaza, a Level II trauma center, two emergency departments, four outpatient imaging centers and 20 operating suites.

Hammett has master’s degrees in health administration as well as business administration from the University of Alabama, Birmingham. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. He and his wife, Amy, have three children.
