Magnet RecognitionThe Medical Center of Aurora/Centennial Medical Plaza was the first community-based hospital in the Denver metro area to attain the Magnet designation for excellence in nursing services by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program®. This is the highest national honor for nursing care that a health care organization can receive.
The Medical Center of Aurora is designated as a Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission. This Disease Specific Certification has been awarded to only seven other hospitals in the state of Colorado. It is currently the highest level of stroke certification.
Chest Pain Center AccreditationBoth The Medical Center of Aurora and Centennial Medical Plaza meet the high patient care, quality and safety standards of the American Society of Chest Pain Centers. Centennial Medical Plaza was the first freestanding ER in Colorado to earn accreditation. The Medical Center of Aurora has Chest Pain Center accreditation with PCI.
The Medical Center of Aurora was ranked the #5 hospital in the Denver metro area in U.S. News Media & World Report's 2011-12 Best Hospital Rankings. TMCA was also recognized for high performance in eight specialties.
Get With The Guidelines AwardsThe Medical Center of Aurora received a Get With The Guidelines (GWTG) Gold Performance Achievement Award and a Stroke Silver Performance Achievement Award in 2010, and a Stroke Gold Plus Achievement Award and a Gold Performance Achievement Award in 2011.
The Breast Cancer Care Center at The Medical Center of Aurora has Full accreditation designation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons. Accreditation by the NAPBC is only given to those centers that have voluntarily committed to providing the highest level of quality breast care and undergo a rigorous evaluation process and review of their performance.
